2010 house design

Have you ever been so tired you could sleep a year? Well that's how we feel tonight. It took forever to load these images on but I just had to. Eric was going to blog tonight but he fell asleep next to me as I was uploading. So here I am on a Saturday night, totally exhausted from the day (today was drapes and cabinet hardware) and I am going to go to sleep now. But there is so much to tell you. I guess it can wait until tomorrow. For those of you who have been following our blog can you tell which room is which by now or is it still kinda foggy? Take a look at these and tomorrow we'll write whats been going on. Pretty exciting!

The Landscape is beginning to bloom. We had to plant some trees before we finish the hard scape and here our first load of flowers and shrubs has arrived.

The stairway is taking shape with the wood paneling and the Juliette balcony. We have great wood guys who are masters at stairs and balcony's. Soon the staining will begin and everything will drastically change again.

Cash for clunkers! This picture is from the neighbors driveway. Why? I do not know why Charm would take such a dumb picture. But, because she told me to get blogging I am saying it like it is.

The Front Entrance has Old Carolina brick which looks hundreds of years old. We chose a grout finish that isn't perfect that would symbolize that period. It allows the brick to show their age and gives the entrance a feeling of stability and longevity

The entry is being stained and looks just like a beautiful piano. It' s rich stain reveals the veins in the wood making them pop! Making thinks POP is a new word you have to learn if you build a house. It's a designer word. Maybe I'll write a book on building a home with a chapter on all the cool new words we learned.

This picture is hard to make out. But, in the barrel ceiling we inserted our Blessings window. It is back lit by a solar tube that draws light through a tube. It actually looks angelic and radiant. This picture is actually a teaser so you will have to come see for yourself.

Julia Child's French kitchen here. Where's the butter? I need more butter! Gotta love it. The stone that leads to the back entry and the pantry is awesome. It's majestic and has the feel of an old European castle. The appliances are not in leaving the voids. Charm decided on two tone staining which actually came out real nice. Our designer Crissy taught us that separate colors that are far apart are acceptable. If they are close in color then it looks like a mistake. See how much you get to learn choosing cabinet colors?

Another kitchen angle.

The study. This is the ceiling in the study with the cabinets and lead glass windows. I have to admit the LER brothers who did the staining are pretty remarkable artists. LER stands for Luis, Ernesto and Ramone. Ernesto was our guy. They use chemical based stain versus water base stain. It fumes pretty bad but comes out looking real good.

The Versailles bedroom wall unit is being installed. All those drawers are for our guests to put their jammy's in. So come on over and unpack those unsightly suit cases.

Retreat Ceiling. Vanessa painted it like what you would see in a palace in Italy. She used warm tones and metallic paints to make it a piece of art. We also did the bedroom and the living room ceiling as well.

Lanai room island being delivered. This will be pizza central when it is done and I cant wait to start making bread, pizza and other great foods in the pizza over. The rule is who ever stays needs to bring a wood burning pizza oven recipe.

The Clock Tower stairs that lead from the Lanai room to the Veranda deck. This is the way you go when it's bed time to your room. The walls will be adorned with a helmet, a breastplate, a shield and a sword. They all have hidden meaning. That will be your quest to discover that meaning.

The Veranda deck is being tiled with Travertine stone 24 x 24's. They look so elegant and make the veranda look grand. I see many people walking and relaxing on the Veranda for years to come. This view is off the master bedroom.

The Retreat Tower leads to the master bedroom Veranda which is to the left and forward to the Sun Deck. The Sun Deck is a almost always sunny and will be used to suntan on or just be outside your bedroom where you may want to get a little 15 minute hue on your skin. Don't forget the Vitamin D.

The Versailles Deck. Can you see the bride stepping onto the deck the morning of her wedding?
